Sea Day #7
This morning I reverted to our usual sea day routine. First we stopped in the Oceanview Café for
tea, coffee for Elva, and a sweet roll.
We entered the Solarium just as they finished uncovering the hot tub,
but first we enjoyed our continental breakfast.
Then after a few pushes of the reset button Elva returned to the cabin
to get ready for her 9:15 Art History class.
I got some more tea and some fruit and Elva was just leaving when I got
back for my hot steamy shower. My cold
feels much better today but my head is now stuffy, not drippy or sneezy. That is good for everyone around me but I am
hoping my head clears for the flight.
Morning trivia was another loss but we did really well with
the next one which was Musicals. It was
fun, because when he played the song to hear the answer we all sang along. Believe it or not, The Complainers even
complained about this game. Baldo played
a song and all you had to do was name the play, not the song, or the composer
or the singer or anything. They are a
mess!
I got back to the cabin and Elva was out so I went ahead and
packed most of my stuff. I don’t like to
waste the time on the last day to do that because then that seems sad and you
might miss something fun.
The last progressive trivia was just reading the poems
required and finding out cores. Even
though we didn’t get but ten poetry points and five crew points we still came
in 4th. No prize, but the
Complainers came in second and they had 29 crew in their photo so we beat them
in actual trivia and might have taken second or even first without all the
challenges.
I had a few bar-b-que ribs for lunch and then Elva and I
found nothing else on our must do list.
I went and claimed the rest of my refund in the casino for shipboard
credit and Elva packed while I wrote to you.
We then used our free gelato coupons.
She had Mint with chocolate chips in a waffle cone and I chose a cone of
Pink Grapefruit. Very tangy and
refreshing. We found a part of the ship
we had not seen often. Deck 5 forward is
where the expensive shops are, art, diamonds, real watches etc. We then walked around a couple of decks and
then a half mile on the track before the impending storm returned to drench the
upper decks. It was very nice to be
outside for a while.
Here, back on our balcony we can enjoy the weather and are
not getting wet. I think this trip we
each enjoyed the benefit of the balcony equally.
Dinner was extremely slow tonight although Oscar and most of
his crew were hustling. Maybe the salute
to the chefs and dining staff slowed things down. Elva and I were seated at a time when only
two other tables had people. Yet as our area
filled up we ended up being the last to be served. We entered the dining room at 6:06 and got
our entrée at 7:35! We gobbled it up
and made it to the 8:00 show. This was
the third formal night and time for the big, oft mentioned ‘cirque styled show.’ People loved it but I think the brown elfin
dress creatures roaming the aisles and constantly moving about the stage were
creepy. The performers are all very
talented but this was just not very good.
The music was loud, continual and eerie.
No words, just constantly changing intonations. The featured performers were excellent, a
juggler, and some acrobats and contortionists, as well as high scarf acts and
trapeze rings. But you couldn’t enjoy these
performers because everything else was so distracting that I was just annoyed
by the whole show. I do think Elva is
less picky and a more generous spirit.
She applauded enthusiastically and enjoyed the show.
We had the final Battle of the Sexes and the ladies
one. We got all our questions right and
in the Tea Cap challenge Chris was able to do it in 13 seconds while Jeremy
took 46! There were two tea bags taped
to a baseball cap and you had to swing them both up onto the brim. It was cute and I had not seen that before!
We bumped into Pete and Carol in the casino after not seeing
them this whole time. So tomorrow, our
last night, we will have dinner together.
They want to eat at 7:00 so we will miss the 8:00 show and may not be
ready to stay up for the later one since on Monday we have to be out of our
cabin by 6:45 a.m.
